This is my contribution to the Simply Snickers poetry prompt for the week. I hope you all enjoy it.
I write to you to let you know
The wait is over, I’m coming home
The war was hard;
I saw things I’ll never forget
Blood ran like water
It makes the soul wilt
I look forward to good times with you
Laughter, love and light
I sign this letter with love,
Until I can hold you tight

That's quite nice.
I haven't dropped in on those prompts in awhile. Looks like I'm missing out.
Thank you. I was doing them regularly and then got side tracked. This is the second week I've been back. I hope to keep up with it this time.
This poem made me wonder whether you were referring to an emotional war or a physical war. It could be either...

I was actually thinking of a physical war. Didn't even occur to me that it could be emotional. Thanks for pointing it out.
Hi, Angel...simply snickers...hard to be funny with war, isn't it? I wrote about a soldier coming home, too.
Yes it is. That would definitely needed a serious undertone. I'll be checking everyone else's poems out very soon. I haven't had much computer time lately!
This is so promising and well-expressed.
Surely, it will speak to many.
Thanks for participating at SIMPLY SNICKERS. Next week's prompt is up!
